The advantages of optical fiber sensors compared to other sensors

The use of optical fiber to develop optical fiber sensors in 1977, and this technology attracted people's interest. At present, the development of fiber sensors is very rapid, mainly because the fiber sensor has many other sensors that are not comparable.

1. Electric insulation. Because optical fiber itself is a electrical substance, and the sensitive element can also be made of electronically, the fiber sensor has good electrical insulation, and the optical fiber surface can withstand 80kV/20cm voltage. Therefore, it is particularly suitable for the test of high -voltage power supply systems and large -capacity motors.

2. Anti -electromagnetic interference. This is the unique performance characteristics of optical fiber measurement and optical fiber sensors. Therefore, the fiber sensor is particularly suitable for harsh environments such as high -voltage large current, strong magnetic field, noise, and strong radiation. It can solve the problem that many sensors cannot solve.

3. Non -invasiveness. Because the sensing head can be made into an insulation, and its volume can be done very small (the core diameter that can only be slightly greater than the fiber), it is not only non -invasive for electromagnetic fields, but also non -invasion for speed fields. Formation, so no interference is caused by the measured field. This is particularly practical for monitoring of flow velocity and flow in weak electromagnetic fields and small pipelines.

4. High sensitivity. High sensitivity is one of the advantages of optical measurement. The sensitivity of optical fiber sensors using light as an information carrier is very high. It is an indispensable tool for certain measurement and control.

5. Long -distance monitoring. Because the transmission loss of optical fibers is very small (currently the small light loss of the fiber of the quartz glass system can be as low as 0.16dB/km), the combination of optical fiber sensor technology with the remote test technology is easy to achieve long -distance monitoring of the measured field. This is particularly important to monitor the automatic control of the industrial production process and monitoring nuclear radiation, flammable, explosive gases and air pollution.

6. Strong adaptability. Geometric shapes are adaptable, which can constitute an optical fiber sensor with any shape.

7. Transmission bandwidth. The bandwidth distance of the optical fiber is 30MHzkm10GHzkm.

8. The fiber sensor has no mobilized part and no power supply. It is an electrical non -source system.

In addition, the fiber sensor also has the advantages of good water resistance, strong corrosion resistance, and high density transmission data. The use of optical fiber can constitute a variety of sensors, which can measure many physical quantities, and the application scope is covered with military, civilian, commercial, medical, industrial control and other fields.
